Bio
Mitchell B. Kohn
is President of Mitchell B. Kohn Lighting Design, with Chicago area offices in Highland Park, Illinois, specializing in interior illumination design for corporate, commercial, institutional, and selective residential environments.
In addition to consulting to corporations and architectural and design firms world-wide, Kohn is a frequent lecturer at universities and professional organizations, and has been published extensively on both technical subjects as well as design projects. He is a Fellow and former Board member of the International Association of Lighting Designers (I.A.L.D.) and a Fellow of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), for which he served as Chairman of their Office Lighting Committee, responsible for developing and maintaining ANSI standards for 15 years. He is also Past-President of the Chicago Section of the IES, and the recipient of both the International Illumination Design Award of Distinction, and the Award of Excellence, their highest design award recognition.
Kohn has also been the recipient of a General Electric Edison Award, an I.A.L.D. Design Citation, and a U.S. Patent for developments in the field of task lighting. He also served as writer and editor of Lighting Focus, a quarterly lighting supplement to Interiors Magazine and Architecture Magazine.
